The Schmittenhöhe – the highest mountain in Zell am See- has a wide range of slopes and has a high guarantee of snow. Approximately 70% of the slopes are above a height of 1400 metres and that offers a guarantee for beautiful descents from mid-December up until April. Many slopes take you past beautiful pine forests and offer a beautiful view of the lake. An area that is suitable for beginners, but definitely for advanced skiers as well, Zell am See has a number of challenging black slopes.

If you want to experience the area from a high altitude, Kaprun with its glacier (3,029 meters) offers an additional 66 km of slopes.

Skiing on the glacier is a true experience due to its view and its beautiful slopes. The area is suitable for both beginners and advanced skiers.

The skiarea of Zell am See has now a connection to the skiarea of Saalbach/Hinterglemm. With the new Alpin Card you can ski in all the 3 areas. Kaprun-Zell am See-Saalbach Hinterglemm.

If you do not want to go skiing for a day, but you still want to enjoy some outdoor activities, a visit to the longest sledding run is essential. This run is located in the Wildkogel Arena (Bramberg / Neukirchen) and is as long as 14 km.

Various cross-country trails have been realized for the cross-country enthusiasts as well. These trails already start in Walchen, but if you like some more altitude, you can also go the Schmittenhöhe. Various trails have been prepared on this mountain in winter.
